Horse riding

The happiness of our guests is not only important to us, but also that of our horses. They live in herds on spacious pastures in both summer and winter.
The species-appropriate attitude enables our four-legged friends to make horse friendships, to be the boss, to go swimming, to have their back scratched or to roll in the dust. That and much more means horse happiness.
This happiness certainly contributes to the fact that they come to “work” day after day in a good mood and well-balanced. An empathetic, yet consistent tone determines the daily interaction with our horses.
At the age of three, training begins with playful ground work, and then later, with the help of simple body language gestures, train the horse to become a reliable and satisfied partner.
The fact that our horses are only ridden with rope halters is an expression of our philosophy. It enables the horse to communicate with people without stress or fear.
Only by trusting our horses do we give them the opportunity to trust us too.

Hiking etc.
The great long-distance hiking trail GR 13, which leads directly past the Domaine de Montchenis, is the ideal starting point for discovering the lovely, harsh landscape of the Morvan – on foot, in the saddle or by bike. Even demanding mountain bikers can count on some challenges in terms of fitness and driving skills.

But Montchenis has many more ways to offer you an active and varied holiday. Visit the picturesque weekly markets in the surrounding villages and towns. At Chalon, the high ropes course awaits you with an impressive stock of trees and many tests of courage. For a sporty game of golf, we recommend the well-kept golf course in Autun. Or just spend a happy day in the large amusement park “Le Pal”.
Swiming
The natural bathing and fishing lake on Montchenis is only a few meters away from the holiday homes. Close enough to grab a café au lait.
The 1.5-hectare lake is secluded, surrounded by willows and old chestnut trees on a sunny plain. Only the black Merens horses of our neighbors “disrupt” the peace and quiet at the lake with their splashing from time to time.
Our own springs ensure the best water quality, so that pike, carp, perch and roach also thrive.
Pack your swimming trunks and if there is still space: fishing rod and rubber boat, up to the roof with them.
